Hey all! Some moderating notes:

This thread is about collaborating to invent new content, the team at AWC would like to emphasise this and are eager to see any of this new content emerge to highlight the power of community through this thread. Please focus more on collaborating efforts instead of promotion of old work — AWC provides various opportunities to promote your work in other ventures!

CHILDHOOD FOOD DISH THAT REMINDS YOU OF HOME &/OR COMFORT

What food gives you nostalgia about your childhood or loved ones?

CARER MENTOR: EMPATHY & INSPIRATION URL: https://www.carermentor.com/

NOSTALGIA, FEEL GOOD Stories about people and places with food please!

AIM: CARE AND LOVE AND HUMAN CONNECTION VIA FOOD

I want to read about WHY, WHAT, and any good RECIPES or BEST PLACE FOR your recommended food or dish! Anywhere in the world!! I keep a list of restaurants.

ALL DISHES - Cicchetti, Tapas, Dim Sum, Indian, hors d’oeuvres. Or main dishes

Please give the phonetic pronunciation of the food

PREMISE: my Dad who’s passed took a DimSum menu and wrote out my favourite dishes phonetically for me so that I could order them ;-) There are many special moments. Like his All leftovers in the pot - curry ;-)

If several people are interested I’ll try to find a good time to coordinate us.

Hi Sarah - I remember meeting you before. It would be lovely if you could write something new. My content schedule is quite full but if you would like to write a piece I could link to it. In the same way I did to Ollie's piece here: https://www.carermentor.com/p/carer-mentor-and-qstack?r=a9y7d&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

If other writers are interested, we could interlink pieces for maybe October.

I'd love to read more about Belgian traditions - I'm craving Moules Frites!

https://substack.com/@francowong

Expand full comment
author

Hi Franco - could you share a few more details? Do you mean engaging people in person at a meeting? or here within the Substack community? or perhaps you mean team-building exercises?

Expand full comment

Hi Victoria, of coz. Mainly I am thinking from the role as a trainer and facilitator in a training or workshop where my team and I would like to find different ways to create an environment where people can feel connected and engaged in the certain period of time in the room together. Any idea and experience is much appreciated! this is because I have started a new job that requires this skill but I haven't worked as a trainer before.

Expand full comment
author

Hi Franco - Congrats on the new job!

Ummm, this is a vast topic because the permutations are endless. I've two decades of building and leading teams and portfolios at different stages of brand strategy and lifecycles and no two meetings were the same.

The most basic answer-resource I can give you is to check LinkedIn training and this: https://www.mindtools.com/akp37i0/team-building-exercises-and-activities

There are templates and discussion guides on mindtools - subscribe, download and follow.

However, this is like taking a cookie cutter and applying it to everything. The art to great team building is managing expectations, and the process.

My time is v limited right now, with the Carer Mentor Collaboration about to start and my mentoring clients (outside Substack) on top of #1 priority caregiving. My advice would be to find a mentor who's got diverse experience to Q&A and tailor their experience to your needs. Hope that helps.
