has a wonderful post about collaborations here, including ideas and examples, lessons learned, and a big collaboration she’s launching soon. Check it out!
This thread is open to all subscribers, not just Asians.
Don’t feel pressured to follow through on either end. This is just a way to connect and get initial ideas.

I'd also love to know if anyone here would like to form a writing group more formally. I'm located in NYC, so ET. Prefer daytimes but would be down to hold a consistent weekly or bi-weekly formal writing group!
Hi Christa, I’m working on a written and visual memoir about living with chronic illness. There are several posts on it. This is the one from today but this is mostly visual. The memoirs are in older posts if you search my posts https://bukus.substack.com/p/self-portraits-and-an-interview-with?r=9brcu
Gosh, there's a woman here on Substack who writes about this sort of thing but I don't remember her name at the moment. I think her book is called 'ex-trad wife'?
Ooooh. The people I want to write about this are on Substack but... :') They don't write about this currently. I hope they will. (They know who they are)
I would love to read essays about building resilience, tackling hard challenges (personal preferred) in life. I'm also interested in understanding how therapy changed your perspectives on life and relationships. I'm inspired by the book - Elinor Oliphaunt is Completely Fine.
Hi Tania, I’m writing a sterialized memoir both written and visual and living with chronic illness. You may or may not like it:) https://bukus.substack.com/p/self-portraits-and-an-interview-with?r=9brcu this one is just visuals and an interview I did but the real memoir itself is in my previous posts and more to come.
Hi Hajee, I write a lot of personal essays and currently working on a serialised memoir of living with chronic illness. It’s both in words and images/ here’s the latest but to read the memoir bits you have to go through my older posts https://bukus.substack.com/p/self-portraits-and-an-interview-with?r=9brcu
Hi Hajee, I write personal essays - most of which come from my understanding of the society and culture I grew up in. Some talk about romance but it's not romantic. You can take a look at my substack here: https://samiragupta.substack.com/
I second this. I write fiction without mentions of romance or attraction, but I would like to read other people's stories as well. General people watching through words.
Hi Hajee & Cheshir- I write exclusively personal essays, but with varying emphasis on romance. If you’re interested in people watching via words, I might have something for you!
I am working on a project to uncover the such stories in educational settings. I am also a member of stigma and discrimination working group of Global Mental Health Action Network, so do send related posts and stories my way. As a result, I always welcome collaborators so feel free to message me. (If you're from India then it's a plus.)
NOSTALGIA, FEEL GOOD Stories about people and places with food please!
AIM: CARE AND LOVE AND HUMAN CONNECTION VIA FOOD
I want to read about WHY, WHAT, and any good RECIPES or BEST PLACE FOR your recommended food or dish! Anywhere in the world!! I keep a list of restaurants.
ALL DISHES - Cicchetti, Tapas, Dim Sum, Indian, hors d’oeuvres. Or main dishes
Please give the phonetic pronunciation of the food
PREMISE: my Dad who’s passed took a DimSum menu and wrote out my favourite dishes phonetically for me so that I could order them ;-) There are many special moments. Like his All leftovers in the pot - curry ;-)
If several people are interested I’ll try to find a good time to coordinate us.
Ooh, yes please! I write about Belgian food and traditions so this is right up my alley. I haven't got anything already written that fits exactly but have sprinkled things into descriptions of foods here and there in my articles and in my book as well so far.
That was a wonderful piece to read, Victoria! I'm currently focussing on finishing an article on waffles and my recipe bundle coming out soon but I'll get back in touch after that, if that's okay🙂.
Samira - I'll save your article and see who else is interested. I will link to your article or get back to you about tying pieces together. Would you be interested in writing a new piece?
Hi Samira, I see you’re already one my subscribers (thanks 🤗) but like Tiffany, I also love to write (or read) this. I can’t say anything I’ve written here is a 1-to-1 with any historical event but I have things in the works which are exactly that. Stay tuned!
Hi Franco - could you share a few more details? Do you mean engaging people in person at a meeting? or here within the Substack community? or perhaps you mean team-building exercises?
Hi Victoria, of coz. Mainly I am thinking from the role as a trainer and facilitator in a training or workshop where my team and I would like to find different ways to create an environment where people can feel connected and engaged in the certain period of time in the room together. Any idea and experience is much appreciated! this is because I have started a new job that requires this skill but I haven't worked as a trainer before.
Ummm, this is a vast topic because the permutations are endless. I've two decades of building and leading teams and portfolios at different stages of brand strategy and lifecycles and no two meetings were the same.
There are templates and discussion guides on mindtools - subscribe, download and follow.
However, this is like taking a cookie cutter and applying it to everything. The art to great team building is managing expectations, and the process.
My time is v limited right now, with the Carer Mentor Collaboration about to start and my mentoring clients (outside Substack) on top of #1 priority caregiving. My advice would be to find a mentor who's got diverse experience to Q&A and tailor their experience to your needs. Hope that helps.

I would like to read about CHRISTIAN PURITY CULTURE, either a cultural analysis or your personal experience with it.
https://tiffanychu.substack.com
Gosh, there's a woman here on Substack who writes about this sort of thing but I don't remember her name at the moment. I think her book is called 'ex-trad wife'?
I'll look it up. Thanks, Sarah.
I also super recommend Jeanna Kadlec (she's on here!) who wrote a memoir called HERETIC, but could have some insights on Christian Purity culture.
Thanks, Christa!

Hi, this is Hajee. I would like to read some non-romance fiction, or some personal essays that narrate individual stories. The longer the better.

OUR great idea together ;-))
Ooh, yes please! I write about Belgian food and traditions so this is right up my alley. I haven't got anything already written that fits exactly but have sprinkled things into descriptions of foods here and there in my articles and in my book as well so far.
Hi Sarah - I remember meeting you before. It would be lovely if you could write something new. My content schedule is quite full but if you would like to write a piece I could link to it. In the same way I did to Ollie's piece here: https://www.carermentor.com/p/carer-mentor-and-qstack?r=a9y7d&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
If other writers are interested, we could interlink pieces for maybe October.
I'd love to read more about Belgian traditions - I'm craving Moules Frites!
That was a wonderful piece to read, Victoria! I'm currently focussing on finishing an article on waffles and my recipe bundle coming out soon but I'll get back in touch after that, if that's okay🙂.
Sure, I’ve quite a bit on my plate too ;-) We’ll connect back in a while.
Hi Victoria, I wrote about a childhood 'favourite chicken' recently. You might enjoy reading it. There's a recipe at the end :)
